Ian Marshall

Ian is an experienced and qualified yoga and meditation teacher having shared his knowledge, both in person and online, in workshops and regular classes since 2016.

He first discovered meditation through the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, undertaking several retreats including a 30 day course at the Kopan Monastery in Nepal.  His journey took him towards the path of advaita vedanta and the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj and Mooji amongst others.

He undertook a 3 month teacher training course in Mazunte, Mexico with the Hridaya school which he discovered in India and Thailand. The first 10 day retreat he took with the school's main teacher Sahajananda was a revelation and opened up his experience and depth of meditation practice.

His mainstream career has seen him working in IT departments for various large companies and he has been able to share Mindfulness based techniques with his colleagues in order to improve focus and remove stress.

He has a broad knowledge of different meditation styles ranging from simple breath awareness practices to more advanced enquiries and enjoys sharing information around the different traditions that have developed.

His interest in spirituality and personal development has also lead him to undertake training in Daoist techniques with Mantak Chia, an 18 month adventure into conscious communication on the Living Tantra with Jan Day and Gong trainings with Sheila Whittaker and the Academy of Sound Healing, along with his regular Sacred Sound Journey show on Frome FM.

He has an interest in the planet and living consciously in general having completed a Permaculture Design Certificate and has been running the Frome Food Hub since November 2021, helping local food producers find a marketplace and giving easy access to great quality sustainable produce to the population of Frome.
