I have been a professional musician all my working life and a lover and practitioner of all things dance for even longer!
After surviving a stroke in 2009 I found myself in an emotionally dark place, and dancing truly saved my life! I joined a local dance group and rekindled my passion. Being part of a group, and having that shared joyful experience was so therapeutic that I decided to train to teach, and I now enjoy sharing the benefits of movement in my classes for wellbeing and joy.
Here's my dance history..
As a child I did ballet for a year, and also trained up to display level for 8 years in Scottish dance. As an adult, alongside my musical career, I attended many types of dance group, performing in jazz/theatre/contemporary groups and participating in many workshops and summer schools.
I was founder member/performer and musical director of the 'I am an Egg' dance theatre group from Mean Feet Dance company, and in 2018 decided to train to become a teacher myself and give back the joy! I am now a qualified Laban Creative Dance Leader and a member of the Guild of Professional teachers of dance. I now work in wellbeing, and endeavour to make people happy through my gigs, fun singing workshops, and dance classes.
In my sessions I teach a wide variety of dance styles to an ever-changing eclectic mix of music, leading the class in easy-to-follow routines, whilst also offering high and low impact options (and even encouraging some creativity at times).
So, my classes really are suitable for all abilities, and will leave you with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!
Come and experience the power and joy of dance with me!
