Michael Loveday will discuss the work of Raymond Carver, one of the great American writers of the 20th century, within the context of his personal life and the literary context of the time in which he lived (1938-1988). There will be handouts to read and take away, and the workshop is suitable both as a development for those with some knowledge of Carver's writing and an introduction for those unfamiliar with his work.
Teri Brewer's American Indian Studies Half-Day is the first of 2 sessions and will give an overview of the original inhabitants of much of the American west and some of the theories about how they have migrated over time. From the Pacific Northwest and the Mountains of California, the Great Basin and to the Greater Southwest this study day will give you an introduction that will prepare you for later study days but can be taken as a free-standing class.
