Course Dates: 24/02, 10/03, 17/03, 24/03, 31/03
A 5-week course exploring a range of art techniques and sketchbook practice in an engaging and inventive way. Underpinned by drawing and experimentation, we will cover line, tone, mark-making, form, colour-mixing, composition, pattern, scale, collage and basic printmaking.
Through observing, recording, and the use of your imagination, skills and ideas will be developed as a progression of building blocks to build confidence. Your local surrounds, natural and urban, will provide some inspiration as starting points, and we will look at different themes in each session.
Media/techniques will include: graphite, charcoal, inks (including homemade botanical inks,) and watercolours. Individual responses will be encouraged, and we will use eco-friendly materials and approaches.
All techniques will be documented in your sketchbook (which we can make together, as an option) giving you the confidence to develop these skills and create your own projects. Each technique covers a fundamental aspect of art and is a great springboard to art appreciation and theory.
Suitable for mixed abilities: beginners and intermediate.
